CITs and Counsellors (you will find a staff application under the "downloads" page)

Camp Dates:

Explorer Camp (ages 6-8) July 11 – 13 (training for Counsellors and CITs to take place July 9th and 10th starting at 1:00 p.m.)

Adventure Camp (ages 9-12): July 16-20 (training for Counsellors and CITs to take place July 15th starting at 2:00 p.m. Counsellors for this camp are also welcome to come to the training on July 9th and 10th)

Teen Camp: July 21- 24th (training for Counsellors tentatively set for July 20th)

What is a Counsellor?

Counsellors for children's camps must be 16 years old or older (preference may be given to applicants 18 and over) and 18 years old and older for teen camp.

A Counsellor serves as the caregiver and first contact for campers in their Trossachs Gospel Camp experience. Counsellors have the privilege of working with children to provide a fun, exciting, and safe atmosphere at the camp where the campers are able to develop spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

Counsellors stay in a cabin overseeing a group of campers through the night and during the day are responsible to lead those campers to a variety of activities, services, meals, etc. throughout the day. It is a big responsibility, but comes with the incredible reward of investing in the next generation, as well as being able to join in on dynamic services, zany games, and other exciting activities including horseback riding and water games. Counsellors will be challenged to grow deeper in their own personal faith walks and will develop new and stronger ministry and leadership skills.

Counsellors are supported by the Camp Director, C.I.T.s, and a variety of Camp Grandmas, Aunties, etc.

What is a CIT?

C.I.T. stands for Counsellor in Training. A CIT does not have as many responsibilities as a counsellor but will act as second in command in a cabin, helping out the counsellor in a variety of ways. C.I.T.s may also be responsible to help teach various skills in the camp and run games as assistants to the Director.

A CIT must be 13-years-old for the children's camps (we'll accept responsible 12-year-olds for Explorer Camp). Teen Camp generally does not take in CITs but if you are over 18 and looking to work at teen camp without all of the responsibility of a Counsellor, you can certainly apply.

All Counsellors and C.I.T.s must complete a "Staff Application Form" and be ready to have a Criminal Record Check completed prior to arriving at camp.

All workers must also attend training sessions prior to campers arriving. Training sessions will take the time to familiarize workers with a variety of the camp activities (including becoming familiar with working with horses, running water activities, bmx bikes, etc.), train workers in our Plan to Protect security policies and procedures, review the schedule for the camp, learn practical ministry skills, and spend time deepening our own relationships with Jesus.

Once a Counsellor or CIT has been accepted to work at camp, you will receive information on how to prepare for the camp and the training.

Times and dates for training listed at the top of the page.

If I go to the first training session and am returning as a counsellor, am I required to attend the other training times?
Yes. Each camp is unique with unique ages, needs, and scheduling so it is important that all workers understand the vision and plan for the camp. Training is also a time to solidify scheduling, prepare cabins for assigned campers, and go over activities and events. Training is also an important time for the team to be able to build relationships prior to camp and spend time in prayer.

If there are reasons a Counsellor or CIT must miss part of the training times, that person MUST contact the Camp Director PRIOR to training.
